Alessia Spense has had recent success in the High Court on judicial review in the matter of Fahey v Visiting Justice at SERCO[2023] NZHC 3807.

“Justice Muir’s decision is important not only because it has afforded one prisoner, Mr Fahey, to have his rights vindicated, but because all prisoners who are in a similar position can now more comfortably rely on protections under law.
